If life was Newton’s second Law, then my life in the past week or so would have been when the acceleration was equal to zero. Not only that, it was probably stationary as opposed to having a constant motion, because that’ll imply that I’ve been making progress of some sort. I haven’t. I feel like I haven’t made a lot of progress lately, whether that’s in terms of self-development, academics, social interactions or otherwise. I’ve been meaning to do a lot of things, but it just hasn’t happened. There is no reason for why none of it is happening except for the fact that I can’t pull myself together to make it happen, and that frustrates me to no end. Why am I not doing what I know I should be doing? Why do I let myself stay stuck in this place? I felt like for a while I’ve been making great progress in different aspects of my life, but I can’t seem to keep the momentum going anymore. I don’t know what has happened, but I know this isn’t me. Sure, it’s very me-like to be lazy and procra...

Rejection

I think it’s safe to say that most of us have, in some point in our lives, encountered a letter (or email) that goes something like this... Thank you for your application for __. We regret to inform you that your application was unsuccessful – and then it goes on to say that there were a number of quality applications to mask the fact that yours were not one of them, sorry. But do apply again next round! I appreciate this email for the reason that they took the time to notify me of the outcome regardless. It’s better than not hearing anything and endlessly wondering whether I’ve made it or not. But it could be hard to come to terms with still. Rejection stings. I think it’s just the fact that you’ve been reminded that you were not good enough in one aspect or another. I’ve been working on applications for programs I wanted to be in and positions I wanted to take on. This whole process of applying, interviewing and finally, the rejection has taught me a few things. ...

How to adult 101

Hey pals, I hope you're all doing great and having a solid July so far! I'm aware I haven't posted a monthly update as usual for May or June but I could basically sum up the past few weeks in one word: exams. So yep, there you have it! But your girl's back and she's back for a good few weeks before the commencement of semester two! How crazy is it to think that one semester has already gone by? Although I still have many more semesters to get through before the completion of my degree, it feels surreal how quickly it's all happening. The past semester had been a good one though! Despite the workload and stress, I've learned a lot along the way. I genuinely have enjoyed myself whether it's focusing on uni work or otherwise. I've got some exciting things to look forward to and I can’t wait for all the adventure in store for the next 6 months! I am finally on inter-semester break (have been for a good week or so now) and I am really loving it. I...

Carley vs Japan

Hello, Ohaiyou-gozaimasu!! Remember when I went to Japan (like an eternity ago) and remember when I said I'd be posting more about it (like an eternity ago as well)? Well, yes hello, I am finally following through with it now!!! I'm not even going to say a lot, let's just let the pictures do the talking. After all, a picture speaks a thousand words, right? Sunrise at 5 in the morning  Our first meal in Japan - Udon noodles Tokyo Disneyland! Kinkakuji aka The Golden Temple Inside the Umeda Sky Building  Dotonbouri at night  Kiyomizu-dera temple  Kyoto Train Station (you can see the Kyoto Tower in this photo!) Harajuku Tried Matcha icecream for the first time!! Shinjuku Garden (look at that symme-tree though ;D )  There are so many more photos I have of random things and places but I hope these will suffice. Japan was such an amazing and different experience and I am keen to be ...

April Antics

Hellooo again, my lovelies! It doesn’t feel like long since I last did a post for the monthly flashback series but apparently it has been a while. Time really passes by when you’re having fun, and fun I had this month!

March Moments

It feels like an April Fool’s joke that March is already over. Amidst the busy schedule, it was hard to notice March creeping away so quickly, leaving a trail of conflicting feelings in its wake. March had decided to mingle itself with the excitement of (the start of) something new, the promise of growth and the inevitable loneliness that comes as a packed deal, as well as a huge workload.

Lessons learned from a run

Hello hello, welcome to another post from Clueless Carley! I woke up this morning with this sinking feeling I can't quite describe. I was feeling down and struggled to get out of bed. But I eventually did and got on with my morning. Fast forward to the part where I’m finally getting a start on the essay I should have started weeks back - I obviously was not in the right headspace and in the spur of the moment I thought “screw this, I’m going on a run”. I surprisingly followed through with this crazy idea and while I was on said run it had cleared my head and injected these new perspectives into me. As you could probably tell from the title of this post, I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned simply from going on this run. Some are pretty self-explanatory and others may sound a bit weird but here’s what you’re probably reading this post for..
