reflecting...

Hello wonderful souls of the internet!

It's been a loooooong time since I've last published something on here and I'm going to cut out the bit where I say I'm going to try and post more frequently or consistently from now on. I can't promise that, and to be very honest there's a lot I wouldn't like to publicize. So, we'll see...

Let's talk February. February always had been an eventful month for me. This time around it has kicked up a notch, and I can’t say it’s been all fun and games. It’s been such a wonderful month but also one of the toughest ones yet. Having to deal with personal doubts and thoughts while coping with changes happening within my family as well as social circle, I have been challenged to question my values and figure my priorities. Countless occasions have urged me to show my true colors and let me just say they aren’t always the brightest. It’s been (and still is) a hard journey, but it doesn’t entirely scare me anymore. I have found a sense of reward and relief along the way.

Despite all, I’ve been quite inspired lately (courtesy of a certain someone - oh, it's been a long time since we've caught up) and it’s been great! There’s a lot of things I’ve been wanting to do, and as I was reflecting on the past month, I’ve realized all that has happened and how much I have accomplished or been challenged. I’m happy with the progress I feel myself making, whether it’s compared to myself at this time last year, or me from a month ago. So! As we approach the end of February, what better time to do a reflection than now?

In February I have been especially grateful for:
·      My body, in the fitness sense. It endures so much yet I always take it for granted by sitting around and not fully taking care of it.
·      People. Good influences and those who are there for you through the tough times.
·      Time. Having taken some time off work, it’s been refreshing and freeing to see how much time there is to get things done in a day. It’s so powerful!
·      Conversation. Insightful and inspiring conversations that makes you see things differently, and perhaps even push you to be better.
·      Opportunities. The platform to meet new people, and to better yourself. The potential to become better, and the prospect of something new and exciting.
·      Honesty and openness. This one's a two-way street, and it’s so liberating.

The goals I have set for myself seem to be changing constantly. Yes, this year I took the time to really determine the things I want to work on but I can't say I've been actively working towards them all the time. So I'm going to take it month by month - set monthly goals/focus that'll help me reach my big as yearly goals!

For the sake of holding myself accountable and keeping a record, below are my three seasonal goals.

Three things to work on in March:
[One] Be well-prepared for recruitment chaos (Yep, ya girl's gotta adult)
This consists of having my application documents ready, submitting them as soon as possible, getting to know myself and how to pitch myself, and preparing for (potential) interviews.
[Two] Establish and maintain a routine
This one’s for the beginning of uni once again, making sure I am doing the most I can in each day by prioritizing and scheduling my time.
[Three] Exercise and sleep well
Quite self-explanatory. Being consistent with this is a huge component.

It's been lovely to catch up, and I hope it won't be too long til the next (adult friendships, huh?)

Love always,
C x

Lessons learned from learning

Hello world, it’s been a hot minute!!! Since the last post where I wrote happily about the lack of academic stress, blissfully unaware that a month or so later I’d subject myself to more of the same, I hope you’ve been keeping well. To quickly catch you up, alongside balancing social and work life, a lot of time and energy has been dedicated to studying in the past few months. In doing so, I’ve learned a few lessons beyond the curriculum which I’m here to share.

New Age, New Stage

I remember in high school I once told a friend of mine that “I have never felt extremely happy nor extremely sad.” The palette of emotions that I experienced felt grey at most, nothing deep enough to feel the extremities. Now that high school is a distant memory, I am beginning to see the palette in more completeness.

March Moments

It feels like an April Fool’s joke that March is already over. Amidst the busy schedule, it was hard to notice March creeping away so quickly, leaving a trail of conflicting feelings in its wake. March had decided to mingle itself with the excitement of (the start of) something new, the promise of growth and the inevitable loneliness that comes as a packed deal, as well as a huge workload.
