The Last.

It's been a while since I've pulled up a word document not for the purposes of writing an essay or assignment. It's refreshing. Before the night officially ends I'd like to wish my fellow Chinese friends out there a happy mid-autumn festival!

Travel Diaries: Wonder-Land

To continue with the theme of traveling from my previous posts, I thought I’d make a post about self-discovery. While traveling is very much an exploration of the wonders of the world, I’d say it is equally an exploration of your inner world. Something about being in a foreign place where no one knows you makes you let go of any expectation that you may have had for yourself, and that you think others may have for you. That is one feeling I love very much. It feels as if you are reconnecting with the very core of who you are and acting in alignment with yourself authentically.  For the longest time I have always pondered upon the question of “who am I?” and “what makes someone who they are?” and have been frustrated countless times because each time I ask myself those questions I can’t quite come to a conclusion. A recent conversation on Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle had sort of unexpectedly shed light on this topic. The physics principle basically states that you cannot measu...

Travel Diaries: A slice of China

Gathering around the dining table with my parents and reminiscing on the flavors of our childhood had me feeling some type of way. I’m naturally a bit of a foodie, now add in the food scene of China and you get a girl with a whole lot of cravings. For food and for travel.

Travel Diaries: Mexico City, Mexico

Hola! Many of the people who know me know that I am a sucker for traveling. Since a young age, I had been fascinated by the prospect of seeing the world and experiencing different cultures. It's cliche, I know, but to this day that fascination follows me. Even after so long I cannot fathom what it is that intrigues me so much about traveling.

Silver linings

Hello wonderful souls of the internet!  It's been a loooooong time since I've last published something on here and I'm going to cut out the bit where I say I'm going to try and post more frequently or consistently from now on. I can't promise that, and to be very honest there's a lot I wouldn't like to publicize. So, we'll see...

What Are The Chances?

As a statistics major, I spend a good chunk of my degree studying and thinking about probability and chances, and what example does my stats lecturer often like to use? You got it – dice rolling. I don’t know if it’s just me or that example makes me think of board games. You roll a dice and you perform an action. So, it reasonably follows, then, that the more you roll your dice the more you get to act. Maybe not every roll of the dice will lead to action you want or have to take, but that’s an opportunity there unfolding.  Doesn’t life resemble something similar? The more you roll your dice and put yourself out there, the more you’re going to get out of it. The more ‘turns’ you have, the greater your chances of success are. Lately, I’ve noticed that I have been putting myself forward to become a part of more extracurricular activities, more clubs and more things that seem exciting to me. I’ve had so many interviews for different things/roles and it's been truly stimulating! I ...
